Bredesen on TN General Assembly’s Budget

by TN Press Release Center on June 4, 2010

Statement Issued by Gov. Phil Bredesen, June 4, 2010:

“This has been a productive week. I’m pleased that a budget was passed today and appreciate that the members of the General Assembly were able to resolve their differences.

“When I introduced the budget in February I said that this was the most difficult one I’ve faced during my time in public office. The plan passed today is a common-sense approach that ensures we live within our means.

“The budget that we’ll implement on July 1 protects funding for pre-K-12 education and makes difficult spending cuts. Our state’s reserves remain strong and we will leave the next governor with a budget that keeps the state on strong financial footing, which has been a priority of mine during this process.”
