Press Release from Zach Wamp for Governor; April 9, 2010:
Special Events with Bill Gibbons in Memphis and Michael W. Smith in Franklin Highlight Tour
NASHVILLE – Zach Wamp, Republican candidate for governor, continues to build statewide momentum toward the GOP nomination with key stops across Tennessee, including a briefing and tour in Memphis on Monday with former Republican gubernatorial candidate and current Shelby County District Attorney General Bill Gibbons.
Wamp’s two-week trek also includes events in Montgomery, Cheatham, Sumner, Wilson, Rutherford, Maury, Haywood, Madison, Decatur, Marshall, Blount, Hamilton, Sevier, Davidson and Williamson counties – with a tour-ending fundraising reception in Franklin on April 19 hosted by award-winning contemporary Christian singer/songwriter Michael W. Smith.
“Our momentum in this race is building as more and more Tennesseans hear about our detailed plans to create more jobs, improve our schools, hold the line on taxes and push back on an out-of-control Washington,” Wamp said. “As we head down the home stretch, I’m focused on sharing my 20/20 vision for an even better Tennessee with as many voters as I can.”
Wamp began the week in Clarksville with a speech at the Montgomery County GOP Women’s Luncheon followed by a walk-through of the Cheatham County Courthouse in Ashland City, where he met with local elected officials, and on Wednesday attended the Hendersonville Rotary Club meeting in Sumner County. Yesterday, Wamp made several campaign stops in Hamilton County before finishing the day in Maryville at the Blount County Lincoln Day Dinner.
Today, Wamp will make campaign stops in Sevier County before traveling to Middle Tennessee to speak to Wilson County Republicans in Lebanon. On Saturday, Wamp will attend the Mule Day Breakfast in Columbia sponsored by the Maury County Farm Bureau and then move on to Nashville for the Tennessee Medical Association’s gubernatorial forum before ending the day with a speech at the Marshall County GOP dinner in Lewisburg.
Next week, Wamp will attend campaign events in Haywood, Madison and Decatur counties punctuated by key stops in Memphis on April 12, including a meeting with Shelby County District Attorney General Bill Gibbons followed by a tour of the Criminal Justice Center. Wamp also will meet Monday with local Chamber and business leaders to discuss new job creation in Shelby County.
Wamp will be back in Middle Tennessee late next week for multiple stops in Davidson, Williamson and Sumner counties, including the Davidson County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner on Friday, April 16. On April 17, Wamp will attend a breakfast meeting with supporters in Nashville followed by multiple events in the area before ending the day at the Sumner County Reagan Day Dinner.
Wamp will end the two-week intensive campaign with events in Williamson County on Sunday and Monday, culminating with a fundraising reception on April 19 at the Franklin home of Michael W. Smith, who’s hosting the event.
