Courts Could Decide Disputed Primary Election Results

Under HB3019, a candidate who wants to challenge a primary election finding would file an appeal with the Tennessee Secretary of State, who’d then appoint an administrative law judge to hear the grievance. The legislation is an attempt to address concerns raised after the 2008 Democratic primary for the District 22 state Senate seat involving Rosalind Kurita.
